Effects of saccharin on primary humoral antibody production in rats

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

Rats fed for 25 to 54 days with diets containing high concentrations (1; 2.5; 5%) of saccharin showed marked, dose-dependent suppression of primary humoral antibody production against heterologous erythrocytes. Phytohemagglutinin (PHA)-induced blastogenesis was not consistently affected by these saccharin-containing diets.
