Abstract

A particularly harmful case of severe polyallergic asthma, uncontrolled despite a "maximal" multidrug therapy (including steroids, also by oral administration, although in contained doseand frequent use, in Hospital, of parenteral adrenalin) is here presented. The patient s life is characterised by highly frequent recurrence to Hospital Intensive Care Units (once she had also been intubated). The integration of her usual therapy with omalizumab was successful since it permitted a better control of symptoms although oral steroids were reduced to the minimal dose of 5 mg/d prednisone, no-need of intensive care (only one episode of access to the Emergency Room in 6 months vs 14 hospitalizations in I.C.U. within the previous 4 years). Particularly remarkable , furthermore, was the recovery to normality of physical, psychological, social life performances.
