Epileptiform discharges resulting from spatial and temporal summation of individual neuron activities can be detected by EEG and stereo-EEG recordings. The EEG sensitivity can be considered satisfactory while its localization power is often poor. Recent advances in EEG analysis open interesting perspectives. The value and limitations of EEG with respect to depth (stereo-EEG) recordings are discussed in the following papers.
