Abstract
The aim of this paper is to review the indications and bounds of endoscopic biopsy of the small intestine, emphasizing the importance of technical strategies aimed to optimize its performance. Moreover, the role of endoscopy in the diagnosis of some intestinal diseases, such ulcerative jejunoileitis a-β-lipoproteinemia, Whipple's disease and, above all, coeliac disease is reviewed.
