Abstract
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), with its unique combination of an always more accurate and brilliant endoscopic imaging and ultrasonic capabilities, can offer today an almost comprehensive evaluation of portal venous system and porto-systemic collateral circulation. For this reason in the last years several studies have been published aimed at exploring diagnostic potential of EUS in portal hypertension (PHT) and its various possibilities of clinical applications, but scientific evidence is still lacking that EUS imaging and EUS-assisted therapy can have a clearcut clinical impact and especially affect patients outcome.
