Abstract
We report the effects of a new flavonoid compound, 3-palmitoyl-(+)-catechin (Pal-Cat) (1 g/kg/bw p.o. for 7 days) on the phagocytic system of the rat in galactosamine (1 g/kg/bw i.p.) hepatitis. The activities of the RES and of peripheral leukocytes were studied by means of the clearance of colloidal carbon (16 mg/100 g/bw i.p.) and the leukocyte migration test under agarose. The carbo-clearance, as expressed by levels of colloidal carbon in the blood and by the degree of engulfment by Kupffer cells in the liver, was more efficient in Pal-Cat-treated rats than in controls (p
