Abstract

We compared the incidence rates, 30-day case fatalities and treatment of status epilepticus (SE) in the adult population of the city of Bologna and the health district of Lugo di Romagna (RA), Italy. Despite the same incidence and clinical features of SE in the two places, a higher 30-day case fatality was found in Bologna. There is evidence of a correlation between the quality of treatment and the short term prognosis of the SE.
