We report a series of 168 children affected by metabolic and degenerative diseases in whom the incidence and the electroclinical features of epilepsy have been reviewed. Seizures occured in 60 cases, and were one of the presenting symptoms of the disease in about half of the cases. In most metabolic disorders epilepsy did not show peculiar features, whereas a distinctive electroclinical pattern was observed in the patients affected by late infantile ceroidolipofuscinosis.
