Abstract

Epilepsy (E) secondary to brain tumors (BT) in infants has not been described. In a series of 29 cases with early BT (at onset <3 yrs) 19 presented E (14 as first symptom, 5 after surgery). Subsequently, 7 out of 19 showed an epileptic encephalopathy for 3-5 yrs; after this period only one remains pharmacoresistant. Risk factors for E are onset after surgery, hydrocephalus, hemiparesis and diagnosis at age <12 mths.
