Abstract
The authors are describing two female children, aged 7 and 11 years, with poroencephalic lesions involving the left hemisphere, who presented spike-and-wave status during slow sleep and spike-and-wave status during wakefulness. In both patients the spike-and-wave status during wakefulness followed spike-and-wave status occurring in daytime sleep. Spike-and-wave status stopped only during night sleep, im REM phases. Nap deprivation provoked in both children the cessation of spike-and-wave status during wakefulness.
