Encefalopotie epilettogene di origine metabolica

Abstract

We present an overview on metabolic determinants of symptomatic epileptic syndromes. The review has been divided in 4 groups of disorders following different mayor pathogenetic mechanisms: 1) defects of energy supply and utilization; 2) defects of disequilibrium or excitatory and inhibitory aminoacids; 3) cerebral epileptogenic malformations provoked by metabolic disorders acting during prenatal development; 4) disorders that provoke neurodegeneration, particularly of the gray matter.
