Abstract

The sensibility and specificity of a radioimmunoassay (RIA) for serum 'e' antigen have been evaluated in 13 HBsAg positive acute hepatitis, 12 HBsAg positive chronic hepatitis, 36 HBsAg positive dialyzed patients and in 27 controls. The sensitivity of the RIA is about 100 times higher than that of immunodiffusion (ID). HBeAg has been detected in an elevated percentage of acute hepatitis and dialyzed patients utilizing our technique.
