Abstract
Objective: To evaluate enteral feeding formulas for diabetic patients. Materials: Data provided by Industry. Methods: Comparative reference values from LARN, composition of standard normoenergetic formulas, dietary guidelines for either healthy subjects or diabetic patients. Results: The formulas for diabetic patients had normal energy and protein content. Available carbohydrates were low in one diet while fructose is always present. The monounsaturated fats were high in one formula, the polyunsaturated ones in the others. Linoleic acid occurs in significant amounts.
