Abstract
The aim of this work was to evaluate the therapeutic activity of cefatrizine, an oral cephalosporin of the second generation, through a clinical and microbiological study of patients suffering from acute infective pathology of the respiratory system. Cefatrizine has been administered in capsules at a dose of 500 mg twice daily, for seven days. From the results obtained it can be concluded that the antibiotic is clinically effective, as proved by the disappearance of symptoms in the patients treated. Microbiological cultures tested at the end of treatment yielded negative results, even in those patients whose microbiological cultures had been positive before treatment.
