Abstract

Although the significance of the corneoum lines is not fully known, their analysis with the silicon replica method can be of use for toxicological purposes, if it is assumed that a substance with a toxin action creates a perturbation in the corneoum design and that such a perturbation is proportional to the toxicity of the substance. In fact, the corneoum design ought to be considered a result of the epidermic growth, which indicates the dermis vitality. Whenever a substance through the corneoum arrives to trouble the epidermic/dermic biology, a more or less visible change of the corneoum design is inevitable. In this case, the change is detected through a technique which can be use in vivo and is not at all invasive.
