Abstract

Event Related Potentials (ERPs) were recorded to a digit-probe identitification and matching task in 29 patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and 26 healthy subjects. Neuropsychological tests of memory allowed two patient groups to be fenined and compared according to the presence or absence of memory disfunction. The patients showed significant ERPs abnormalities which were either common to both groups or restricted to the patients with memory deficits. These abnormalities which parallel the neuropsychological evidence of memory deficit in our patients confirm the involvement of working memory in TLE.
