This paper briefly reviews the available data as to the relevance of exercise for paraplegic individuals. In particular, all information which can be employed to develop rational and safe training and rehabilitation programs are reported. Accordingly, the main cardiovascular adjustments during exercise, as well as the physiological responses of paraplegic subjects during exercise are comprehensively addressed.
