Abstract

The success of laparoscopic surgery in the most frequent field of application, general surgery, prompted the authors to propose a more ambitious experimental study following the example of recent international experience. A partial resection of the sigma with subsequent mechanical anastomosis was therefore performed in pig using an exclusively laparoscopic route. This technique, which still requires further modifications, might be valuable for the clinical removal of benign tumours.
