Abstract

Infertility almost invariably follows the administration of systemic chemotherapy, and suppression or reduction of testosterone activity has been studied as a means of testicular protection. In the present investigation the efficacy of LH-RH analogue administration has been studied in the protection of damage due to CDDP in an experimental setting in the rat. CDDP alone, an LH-RH analogue alone and CDDP and an LH-RH analogue in association, were administered to three groups of 10 Wistar rats each. The animals were sacrified 42 days after treatment and histological studies were performed on semithin sections of testicular tissue. The administration of an LH-RH analogue protects the germ cells against damage induced by CDDP.
