Abstract

The present study was performed to assess the contribution of the Factor V Leiden mutation (FVL:FVQ506) to vascular thrombosis episodes and consequently to graft survival in liver transplanted patients. A consecutive series of 108 primary liver allograft adult recipients transplanted between January 1997 and June 2001, was analyzed. FV genotype polymorphism was determined by PCR-SSP technique. The results demonstrated that the six months and one year actuarial graft survivals of FVL mutation patient group (20 patients) were significantly lower than that of FV wild type cohort (88 patients) (42.8% vs. 78.1%, p
