Abstract
The authors performed a retrospective analysis of a group of patients with bone metastases of the lower limbs who had been treated surgically using conventional osteosynthesis or prosthetic replacement with the final result that neoplastic lesions had spread or there had been a mechanical failure of the means of synthesis or the prosthesis used. In particular, the authors analyse the causes of these failures which appear to be linked in particular to inadequate surgical techniques.
