Abstract

The management of infected total hip arthroplasties is a complex issue. Depending on patient characteristics, infecting organisms and personal opinion of the surgeon, treatment options include antibiotic therapy, debridement of surrounding tissues, complete removal of the implant, irrigation and re-implantation of a new prosthesis [4, 5, 8-10, 16, 18].
