Abstract
A case of epithelioid sarcoma arising in a 59-year-old woman has been studied by immunohistochemistry. An evident stromal and cellular positivity for fibronectin was found. Cytoplasmic immunostaining with anti-fibronectin antiserum appears quite distinctive and suggests that epithelioid sarcoma is closely related to synovial derived sarcomas. More over, evidence of the intracellular presence of fibronectin seems a useful tool in the immunohistological differentiation of epithelioid sarcoma from other tumors with similar microscopic features.
