A brief introduction to the subject is followed by the presentation of four cases of chylothorax after heart surgery, including two that occurred after open heart operations. The site, time of onset, features and duration of the effusion are compared with those reported in the literature. The diagnostic and therapeutic criteria adopted by the Bergamo center are described.
