Abstract
The plasticity of GABA receptors has been demonstrated after different pharmacological treatments. Intrastriatal kainic acid injection induces a significant increase of 3H -GABA and 3H -spiroperidol binding both in striatum and substantia nigra. On the other hand, a single injection of hal operidol decreases in a dose dependent manner 3H -GABA binding both in striatum and cerebellum but not in substantia nigra. Other neuroleptics such as chlorpromazine and sulpiride induce the same changes in 3H-GABA binding, while clozapine tend to increase the GABA radioreceptor binding.
