Breast cancer is the most common neoplasm in females. In elderly women the diagnosis is based on the same procedures used in younger women. Mammography is the fundamental screening exam. The diagnostic accuracy based on the objective exam, mammography and cytology is around 100% as reported in literature. In elderly women the major drawback is that they are usually excluded form programs of screening and early diagnosis; however treatment parameters should be similar to those used in younger patients keeping in mind the patient general condition and the impact of life expectancy.
