Guidelines for treatment of prostate cancer in the elderly

Abstract

Treatment modalities of prostate cancer in the elderly are analyzed after an overview of clinical presentations and incidence according to the data from the National Cancer Institute Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (NCI SEER). Based on UICC TNM classification, comorbidity, prognostic factors (Gleason score, stage, PSA level) and comprehensive geriatric evaluation (CE), selected patients were treated with 3D Conformal Radiotherapy and androgen suppression. Outcomes and long-term radiotherapy sequelae are reported.
