High proliferation rate in dystrophinopathies

Abstract

We investigated proliferation rate by the AgNOR method in muscle samples from 13 Duchenne (DMD), 9 Becker (BMD), 5 polymyositis (PM) patients and 10 normal subjects. Specimens were treated with a 25% silver nitrate solution, and the area occupied by silver dots (NORA, μ) in 200 nuclei per specimen was measured by image analysis.
