Abstract

The ICARUS project aims to construct a big liquid argon imaging detector suitable to the underground physics: proton decay search and neutrino oscillation studies with long baseline beam neutrinos as well as with atmospheric and solar neutrinos. The construction of the 600t module in this project is discussed. The system is used to detect light from argon scintillation, based on photomultiplier tubes immersed in the liquid.
