Numerical and structural abnormalities of human X and Y chromosomes can be recognized studying polymorponuclear leukocytes stained with quinacrine hydrochloride. In an investigation carried out in a group of healthy males and females, in individuals with very long Y chromosomes, in Morris' syndrome, in Turner's syndrome, in Klinefelter's syndrome and in XYY individuals it has been shown that the present technique can be applied successfully for the identification of the human sex complement.
