In the light of efficacy of the 'Post Anal Repair' (PAR) in the treatment of Idiopathic Fecal Incontinence (IFI), the authors analyzed a group of 12 patients who underwent PAR, to evaluate clinical results as regard electrophysiological parameters in the postoperative period. Patients were submitted to a complete electrophysiological evaluation with anorectal manometry to identify the resting anal pressure and after maximum contraction. They were, also, submitted to electromyography to evaluate pudendal nerve terminal motor latency (PNTML). Contrasting results were observed not due to technical failure, but correlated to IFI, which we can consider a heterogeneous syndrome and which require a diversification of treatment.
