Abstract
2 to 5% of islet cells were found to react with antibodies against pure porcine VIP in immunoperoxidase and immunofluorescence tests applied to guinea pig, dog and human pancreas. Some VIP cells were also scattered in the exocrine tissue. The presence of VIP cells in normal pancreas may explain the occurrence of pancreatic vipomas.
