The effect of nicergoline, an alpha-adrenergic blocking drug, upon insulin response to glucose has been investigated in 8 subjects with Type II (adult-onset) diabetes mellitus with fasting hyperglycemia. All subjects had no acute insulin response to intravenous glucose (20 g) pulse (AIR=Acute Insulin Response=1±5%, mean±SEM, mean change 3-10 min, % basal).
