We found Taylor-type focal cortical dysplasia in 13% of our surgical treated drug resistant epileptic patients. In 25 of them who performed both EEG and Stereo-EEG (SEEG) in our Centre, we observed a potentially typical EEG interictal and ictal pattern, characterized by 1) the presence of rhythmic interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) and 2) the occurrence of ictal EEG activity consisting of rhythmic activity followed by fast activity, preceded by a "pre-ictal loading" and followed by a post-ictal early reappearance of IEDs. We compared EEG and stereo-EEG interictal and ictal pattern for each patient, finding a good congruence between the two techniques.
