A 54-year-old male, patient, on chronic hemodialysis for the last 21 years, developed an intestinal dialysis-related amyloidosis complication. Admitted to hospital for abdominal pains and intestinal bleeding, he underwent a right colectomy as a result of an ascending colon stenosis. The histological examination showed an ulcerated mass with extensive amyloid deposits positive to Beta2-microglobulin research, present in the muscular layer and in the walls of the blood vessels. In the case of long-term dialysis patients, it should always be kept in mind the possible amyloidosis related nature of clinical intestinal symptoms.
