Cholangiomanometric techniques and methods described in the literature are reviewed, with particular reference to their associated anaesthesiological and pharmacological problems. Original physiological concepts are relied on in a proposal for the adoption of a new intraoperative method with pharmacological tests and specifically directed to a functional evaluation of Oddi's sphincter as a means of determining indications for surgery.
