Isoniazid-induced pure red cell aplasia in two siblings

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is a rare complication of treatment with isonlazid mainly observed in adults. We report two siblings who had anemia caused by PRCA during administration of isoniazid. On discontinuation of isoniazid, the anemia resolved rapidly. PRCA should be considered as a possible cause of unexplained anemia during isoniazid therapy in children.
