Abstract

The SPREAD guidelines (Stroke Prevention and Educational Awareness Diffusion) are the Italian official textbook on stroke management, including, actually, both summaries or recommendations, usually found in guidelines, and the full text useful to explain them. General practice has a pivotal role on prevention both on population and individual approach. For this aim, the General Practitioner need to play not only the simple expectancy care, but also an adequate anticipatory and opportunity care, for screening over healthy people. Following guidelines statement, the General Practitioner seem to be the most important physician, among the Italian National Health Service, able to perform a stroke primary prevention.
