Abstract

Kidney failure during brucellosis is not frequent (in some cases the percentage is 4%). Therefore, the authors report results of a case of brucellosis in the kidney in a 54-year-old male patient, underlining the late diagnosis due to an atypical clinical pattern. Laboratory data relate the kidney failure during brucellosis infection to an immunocomplex pathology. Furthermore, the authors show the therapeutic effectiveness and the tolerability of pefloxacin resulting in a clinical recovery of the patient and absense of relapses.
