Abstract

The Authors report the results of lamotrigine (LTG) add-on therapy in 61 patients with drug resistant Generalized Epilepsy (GE) with a follow-up of at least 6 months: 45 were affected by Idiopathic GE, 4 by Cryptogenic GE, 12 by Symptomatic GE. Forty-eight patients in the whole group (78.7%) showed a seizure reduction > 50%, with 23 seizure-free (37.7%). Side effects, observed in 1/3 of patients, were usually mild, transient and well tolerated, and only in a few cases led to discontinuation of LTG.
