Abstract
Rolandic epilepsy (RE) is the prototype of focal benign epilepsy. However recent studies have suggested various neuropsychological deficits relating to attention, language and visual motor abilities. We conducted a standardized neuropsychological assessment in 3 children with RE and with a marked activation of interictal epileptic discharges during sleep. IQ was normal; a learning disorder, with difficulties in reading, writing and arithmetic, was present. We emphasize the importance of a neuropsychological evaluation in RE.
