Embolization of kidney tumors is a new treatment of indubitable interest. However, it will require much more experience and study to be assessed fully, especially as regards its clinico-biological implications, which are the more important since the method may be regarded as the only possible one in cases of inoperable kidney tumors. By this is meant not those with considerable local spread of the tumor, which does not contraindicate nephrectomy, nor cases with isolated metastases, but rather those cases in which the general condition formerly contraindicated surgery.
