Abstract
The Authors argue about the advantages and the disadvantages of performing laparoscopy for cure of colorectal malignancy. The loss of tactile sensation with laparoscopic technique can lead to difficulty in tumor identification and in removal the right segment of colon with the risk to miss synchronous lesions. The technical feasibility of laparoscopic resection can be equivalent to that achieved by laparotomy for colorectal cancer, but the oncological feasibility still is doubtfull since true recurrence rates and overall cure rates remain unknown for the absence of prospective randomized long-term trials.
