Abstract
The authors studied urethral secretions in 45 males suffering from acute urethritis. Neisseria gonorrhoeae were identified by stainng both with methylene blue and Gram's method and by culture on Tayer-Martin's medium. N. gonorrhoeae was isolated in 16 patients (35.5%). Limulus lysate test was performed on each sample. The results showed a significant correlation between gonococcal urethritis and a positive Limulus test.
