Abstract
Eleven of 20 hypertensives admitted to a four-week trial with indenolol (Securpres) given as monotherapy or in combination with diuretics carried on treatment for an overall period of 12 months. In all these patients, the satisfactory arterial pressure levels attained during the first few weeks of the trial remained unchanged throughout the study. Myocardial oxygen consumption was reduced both at rest and following cyclo-ergometer exericse. No orthostatic hypotension or bradycardia phenomena occurred. Tolerance was excellent; no side-effects were observed.
