Abstract
Primary anorectal melanoma is an uncommon but highly malignant disease with poor long-term prognosis. We here describe our experience with 3 patients with anorectal melanoma at different tumor stages who all underwent abdominoperineal resection for various reasons. According to the literature, abdominoperineal resection or local excision could be performed in stage I disease of anorectal melanoma while any treatment modalities in stage II or III only have palliative character and are dependent on the individual clinical symptoms.
