Abstract
In this chapter the most frequent sports-related knee pathologies are described. A detailed description of clinical presentation, diagnostic behaviour, prevention and treatment options are presented for cruciate and collateral ligament, meniscus and cartilage injuries. Up to date techniques (such as arthroscopic meniscal suturing, meniscal and cartilage scaffold and transplantation) and minimally-invasive approaches are proposed, in order to provide the reader with a guide to achieve the best result with a reasonable recovery time. Key points in diagnosis and treatment are pointed out, making this chapter a short guide for the management of the Athlete’s knee.
