Abstract
Neuropsychological examination is an important aspect of presurgical diagnostic protoeol. In particilar, the evaluation of memory functioning plays a role in lateralizing and localizing epileptogenic zone. The aim of the our study was to evaluate memory functioning in 34 patients affected by drug-resistant temporal lobe epilepsy, classified in three subtypes, "mesial", "lateral" and "mixed", on the basis of anatomo-electro-clinical correlations. Our results confirmed a good lateralizing value of memory tests. Moreover, the "mesial" and "mixed" subtypes, where a hippocampal dysfunction was expected, showed a lower memory performance respect to "lateral" subtype.
