Abstract
The authors review the clinical and diagnostic aspects involved in leptomeningeal disease due to solid rumours, leukaemias and lymphomas. The importance of the combination of clinical findings with cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) examination and imaging studies in making an early diagnosis is underlined. The raising prevalence of this complication of systemic cancer deserves specific attention on the part of neurologists involved in consultation liason with general medicine and oncology.
