We investigated the possible relationship between the occurrence of seizures and the menstrual cycle in 25 epileptic women in reproductive age. The statistical analysis of 397 cycles (5-30 for each patient) showed a significant association between seizure occurrence and perimenstrual phase in 3 out of 25 patients. In 2 other patients a seizure exacerbation was observed during midcycle period and luteal phase respectively.
